Cinequest is a wonderful festival known for discovering exciting new films and filmmakers from the indie world, and I’m very proud to have a film I produced screening there.
IN A WINTRY SEASON begins as a simple fairy tale: in the heavily-immigrant and Catholic coal regions of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Tom and Sheila choose the pageantry, promise, and safety of religious life, taking life-long vows of celibacy as teenagers. What follows is a kaleidoscopic examination of gender, fallibility, family, and the place of a centuries-old faith in our modern world.
