The next four weeks are going to be very full!
First, my play RELIABLE NARRATORS was selected to be one of the six plays that are part of AMMO-Nymous Plays WeHo, which is a brand-new reading series from Ammunition Theatre with a format that promises the audience a surprise. On each of the three nights, one of the plays will be drawn from a hat and read cold by company members. Nobody, including the actors, will know which play is being read until the drawing happens! The readings will take place at 6:30 PM on April 30th, May 14th, and May 28th (though my play won’t be in the hat on May 14th due to another commitment), at the Fiesta Cantina in West Hollywood.
Then, my play THE HEAT OF THE SUN’S RAYS is one of the three winners of MACH 33: The Caltech Festival of New Science-Driven Plays, and will have a staged reading at 4:00 PM on May 16th in Pasadena. The play explores the work of early American climatologist Eunice Newton Foote, and I’ve been working with science advisors Olivia Alcabes and Zhaoyi Shen to make sure my science is on point. I’m also thrilled to be collaborating with the amazing director Jessie Lee Mills again! It’s been a pleasure working with everyone at Caltech over the last few months, and I’m excited to see how audiences respond to this play.
Finally, if you’re more in the mood for a film than a play on May 16th, you can see IN A WINTRY SEASON as part of FactoryFest! at 6:15 PM in Hollywood. Mary and I have been waiting patiently for an opportunity to share the film with our LA friends and family, and it’s finally here! Get tickets here before they sell out.
