WHO PUT BELLA IN THE WYCH ELM? at Read and Rant

If you’v ever wanted to be part of a book club–but for plays–now is your chance!

The Athena Project will be discussing my historical (but modern) play about an unsolved WWII mystery at 5:30 PM Pacific on July 18th, 2022 as part of their Read and Rant series. Since it takes place on Zoom, anyone can join from anywhere in the world! All you have to do is register here; you’ll receive a digital copy of the play to read beforehand and a Zoom link to the online event.

A little about the play:

While wandering Worcester, England in 1943 in search of bird eggs, a teenage boy happened upon the skeleton of an unidentified woman inside the trunk of a large tree. An investigation commenced to determine who the woman was and how she died, but it raised more questions than it answered. Was she a spy? Was she a prostitute? Had she been part of an occult ritual? Theories abounded, but no definitive answers emerged. Then graffiti began to appear around town, asking a question that remains unanswered to this day…

WHO PUT BELLA IN THE WYCH ELM? uses the historical mystery to explore the ways in which society imposes identities on women, and ultimately ask how much it’s possible to truly know another person. It was developed with The Vagrancy‘s 2018-2019 playwrights’ group, through which it had a public their 2019 new play festival, Blossoming, in Los Angeles. It was a Semi-Finalist for Scranton Shakespeare Festival’s 2020 Scratchfest and the Athena Project’s 2022 Plays In Progress Series.

Hope to see you there!
