<p>In October, <a href="https://faberllull.cat/en/resident.cfm?id=43371&amp;url=katherine-vondy.htm" data-type="link" data-id="https://faberllull.cat/en/resident.cfm?id=43371&amp;url=katherine-vondy.htm">I had the wonderful experience of being invited to a residency at Faberllull Olot in Spain,</a> where I had the opportunity to work on one of my current writing projects for a week, while enjoying the scenery of the nearby volcanoes and Medieval villages&#8211;not to mention plenty of delicious Catalan cuisine. In addition to getting to know the other fascinating artists and activists in my cohort, <a href="https://faberllull.cat/en/noticia_detall.cfm?id=43668&amp;url=resident-katherine-vondy-visits-school-of-languages.htm" data-type="link" data-id="https://faberllull.cat/en/noticia_detall.cfm?id=43668&amp;url=resident-katherine-vondy-visits-school-of-languages.htm">I was also invited to give a talk at the Escola Oficial d’Idiomes (Official School of Languages) in Olot</a> about changes that have taken place in the film industry during the 21st century so far. I loved being in this beautiful part of Catalonia and having the chance to interact with the community. Thank you to Pepa Pasamón and everyone at Faberllull Olot, as well as to Immaculada Cristina Roura and everyone at EOI, for putting together this phenomenal experience!</p>

<p>After many, many months of only being able to do group creative things virtually, I finally got to spend some IRL time with other artists at <a href="https://www.freshgroundpeppernyc.com/brb">Fresh Ground Pepper&#8217;s BRB Retreat</a> in Pennsylvania. I was there for a week to work on a new play, and along the way I also got to take some walks in the country, pick some peaches, and roast some marshmallows by the campfire. I loved getting to meet a new group of talented writers, directors, and performers, too! Thanks so much to FGP for inviting me to be a part of their first in-person programming since COVID began&#8211;it was an honor and a joy! </p>

I&#8217;d attended back in 2016, and this year the Foundation organized a reunion for participants from previous sessions, meaning that it was a chance to reconnect with the wonderful artists I&#8217;d met three years ago. Needless to say, that was awesome&#8211;and on top of that, I finished a draft of a new play! The working title is MEANER CREATURES KINGS, and it&#8217;s a retelling of Shakespeare&#8217;s RICHARD III set in a corporate office. Hopefully there will be more to share as this play develops in the future!</p>
